Paige Portell
women's ministry
I am from Kansas, "There's no place like home..." I'm actually a California girl, born
there but moved when I was one. I then lived in Nebraska for a short time, only by
the age of three to be in Kansas City, MO. I lived there with my amazing parents
and two little sisters, Brittany (15) and Ashley (20). My family moved from the
Missouri side to Kansas side in 8th grade to be closer to a better church and youth
group for our family. I grew up knowing of God, but began a personal relationship
with him and gave my life over to him in baptism in 7th grade after one of my
first retreats. The youth group growing up was my safe haven and passion in
my life. I was able to be a part of the leadership team there, counsel camps, lead
a small group, and develop amazing friendships and mentors.
My senior year of high school my faith and strength in Christ grew after my family's house burnt down to the ground, as we were outside all safely watching it happen. God taught me his deliverance by building it back up 6 months later and moving back in 3 days before Christmas.
I attended Lipscomb University where I played collegiate soccer and majored in Exercise Science. I spent my summers working for Kanakuk Kamps, Christian Athletic Camps in Branson, MO. My senior year of college I had my world turned upside down after having surgery on my foot. God taught me how to truly slow life down and lean on him. Over the last few years, I have worked in several Fitness Centers, and coached soccer for a couple teams. I love to be outdoors hiking, biking, or running.
Through all of this, my desire and heart has always been working with the student age group wherever they may be. I came to Fellowship last year to carry on relationships with previous campers, be involved with an authentic student ministry, and be a part of an incredible young adult’s ministry.
